Thank you for purchasing a Robertshaw RS4000C thermostat. This
user's manual will guide you through the setup of the RS4220C two
stage, and the RS4320C three stage* thermostats. The thermostat
should already be mounted and correctly wired. The default settings
will enable the thermostat to operate efficiently.

- Page 1 USERS MANUAL Thank you for purchasing a Robertshaw RS4000C thermostat. This user’s manual will guide you through the setup of the RS4220C two stage, and the RS4320C three stage* thermostats. The thermostat should already be mounted and correctly wired. The default settings will enable the thermostat to operate efficiently.
- Page 2 The Robertshaw RS4000C family of thermostats is designed to control gas, electric, oil, heat pump, and millivolt heating and electric cooling systems. The RS4220C is a two stage thermostat. The RS4320C can support three stages of heating and two stages of cooling in heat pump applications.

Page 3: Installing Or Changing The Batteries
Installing or Changing the Batteries To remove the battery compartment gently squeeze the ribbed edges on both sides. The battery compartment will pull down from the thermostat body and will detach. Install two AA batteries following the polarity as shown inside the compartment. Place compartment back into the thermostat. -

Emergency Heat Your system may include Emergency Heat. The RS4220C and RS4320C thermostats have an emergency heat capability for multi stage heat pump systems. To determine if your system is capable of using emergency heat contact your contractor. -
Page 5: Operating The Thermostat
Operating the Thermostat Any setting can be changed when it is flashing by pushing If a button is not pushed for 10 seconds the thermostat returns to operation. The following buttons can be accessed from the front panel. LIGHT BAR: Turns on the display back light for 10 seconds. FAN: Turns fan to AUTOMATIC, CIRCULATE or ON. - Page 6 dF = The differential keeps the thermostat from turning on for small changes in temperature. When in Fahrenheit the range is 0.5 to 3.0 Degrees. In Celsius the range is 0.5 to 1.5 Degrees. The differential is factory set at 1.0 °F (0.5 °C). This means that whenever the room temperature is more than 1 °F (0.5 °C) different from the set temperature the system will turn on.
- Page 7 Auto changeover enable = Makes the auto changeover mode available. When chosen, the user can select auto changeover mode which automatically switches between heating and cooling. Note that the High and Low setpoint limits are not enforced in auto changeover mode. db = Deadband for auto changeover = the number of degrees that the room temperature can move away from the active setpoint until heating or cooling is called for.
- Page 8 CY = Cycle Timer allows a compressor to rest between cycles. Can be set from 0 to 5 minutes in 1 min increments. WARNING: A wrong short cycle setting can damage your equipment. This should only be changed by a trained HVAC professional. CL = Calibration offset.

Two Stage Systems A 2nd stage is a second or additional system that will provide extra heating or cooling. When a 2nd stage is operating the display will show the number 2 by the heat/cool icons. A temperature differential (default value is 2.0 °F or 1.0 °C) and time delay (default value 20 minutes) control the 2nd stage cycle. -

Installation ou remplacement des piles Pour retirer le compartiment des piles resserrez doucement les bords côtelés. Le compartiment des piles s'abaissera du corps du thermostat et s'en détachera. Placez-y deux piles de type "AA" en respectant la polarité indiquée à l'intérieur du compartiment. - Page 16 Chauffage d'urgence Votre système peut comprendre un chauffage d'urgence (« Emergency Heat »). Les thermostats RS4220C et RS4320C ont une capacité de chauffage d'urgence pour les systèmes multi-étagés avec thermopompe. Pour savoir si votre système est capable d'utiliser le chauffage d'urgence, contactez votre entrepreneur.

En Celsius, il s'agit d'une plage de 0,5 à 1,5 degrés. Le réglage d'usine du différentiel est de 0,5 ºC (1 ºF). Ceci signifie que chaque fois que la température ambiante s'écarte par plus de 0,5 ºC (1 ºF) de la température programmée, le système s'allume.
- Page 19 Auto changeover enable = Permet d'utiliser le mode d'inversion automatique. Lorsque ce mode est choisi, le thermostat peut faire passer automatiquement du chauffage à la climatisation et inversement. Notez que les valeurs de réglages HI et LO (haute et basse) ne sont pas en vigueur en mode d'inversion automatique.
- Page 20 FL = Minuterie pour rappeler au propriétaire qu'il faut entretenir le filtre. Le réglage par défaut est éteint. Cette minuterie fonctionne quand le système est allumé et peut être réglée sur « n » (éteinte) ou « y » (activée). Quand il est réglé sur « y », le rappel de vérification du filtre (FL) s'affiche après 1000 heures de fonctionnement.

Arrêt automatique Le thermostat n'affichera pas la température de la pièce si la température dépasse 37°C (99°F) ou descend à moins de 0°C (32°F). L'écran affichera HI ou LO. Le thermostat continuera de contrôler le chauffage et la climatisation; elle affichera de nouveau les données en temps réel une fois que la température ambiante est revenue dans la plage d'affichage. - Page 23 Vérification dépannage Problème Action Vérifiez le câblage.
