5. When the boards are part way in, stop to insert the CPU power connection.
6. Move to the front or back of the 979, reach in from the back of the card cage and lay the
CPU power connection up onto the Power Supply board so you can reach it from the
left side of the stack.
7. Move to the left side of stack and replace the CPU power connection.
8. Continue to slide the boards into the rack the rest of the way, making sure that the short
boards also fall into the guides.
9. Replace the 5 power connections and the two molex connections on the back of the
cards (Figure 7-5 on page 7-5).
10. Connect the shared power source, tighten the screws.
11. Connect the DB-sub connectors and tighten the screws.
12. Place the P1 connection back into the side of the chassis.
13. Replace the card cage bracket and hand turn the screws to tighten them.
14. Replace all panels as described in Section 3.5 "Replacing All Covers and Panels" on
page 3-7.
15. Connect the pump power plugs if they were removed.
16. Connect mains power.
17. Turn power on and let the pumps warm up and come up to speed.
18. Calibrate the leak detector using the procedure described in Section 9.1 "Calibrate the
979" on page 9-1.

7.5 Replacing the Turbo Controller Board

The turbo controller board is located in the front of the 979 just beneath the shelf that the
spectrometer tube sits on. The front panel must be opened, but it is not necessary to remove
it completely. If it is not removed completely, be careful not to place pressure on the touch
panel display harness.

The circuit boards are static sensitive devices. Wear a
CAUTION
grounding device when accessing any circuit board.
