    General Requirements The sections that follow outline the mandatory regulations that govern the installation and operation of the 7705 SAR-M. The information in this section also describes instructions and information related to overall conformance with the mandatory regulations. You must adhere to these instructions so that your system meets regulatory requirements.

    ESD grounding for the chassis. Before a 7705 SAR-M chassis is installed, connect the ESD wrist strap to a grounded rack or other ground point. After the 7705 SAR-M chassis is installed in a grounded rack or cabinet, connect the anti-static wrist strap to the ESD strap ground point on one of the ground studs identified by the wrist strap label.

    Locations. Laser Interface The 7705 SAR-M uses a fiber-optic communications method and is an FDA and IEC Class 1 Laser product. Only trained service personnel thoroughly familiar with laser radiation hazards should install or remove the fiber-optic cables and cards in this system.

    The Console port uses an RJ-45 connector to provide serial console access for the 7705 SAR-M. The Console port is used to configure router and system parameters. It can also be used for monitoring purposes. It supports baud rates of 9600, 19 200, 38 400, 57 600, and 115 200.

    Ethernet Ports There are three RJ-45 and four optical (SFP) connectors on the front of the 7705 SAR-M that provide Ethernet access to seven Ethernet ports. Use CAT5E (Gigabit Ethernet) shielded cables to attach customer equipment to the 7705 SAR-M RJ-45 Ethernet ports.
