This example shows how to enable VLAN long-names.
switch# configure terminal
switch(config)# system vlan long-name
switch(config)# copy running config startup config
switch(config)# show running-config vlan

Configuring Port VLAN Mapping on a Trunk Port

You can configure VLAN translation between the ingress (incoming) VLAN and a local (translated) VLAN
on a port.
Notes for Port VLAN Mapping:
• The ingress (incoming) VLAN does not need to be configured on the switch as a VLAN. The translated
• All Layer 2 source address learning and Layer 2 MAC destination lookup occurs on the translated VLAN.
• PV switching and PV routing are not supported on FEX ports.
• On Cisco Nexus 9300 Series switches, PV routing is not supported on 40G ports.
• VLAN translation (mapping) is supported on Cisco Nexus 9000 Series switches with a Network
• When changing a property on a translated VLAN, the port that has mapping a configuration with that

VLAN needs to be configured and a vn-segment mapping given to it.
Refer to the VLAN counters on the translated VLAN and not on the ingress (incoming) VLAN.
Forwarding Engine (NFE).
VLAN as the translated VLAN, should be flapped to ensure correct behavior.

Configuring Port VLAN Mapping on a Trunk Port
Purpose
Allows you to enable VLAN names that have up
to 128 characters.
Use the no form of this command to disable this
feature.
(Optional)
Saves the change persistently through reboots and
restarts by copying the running configuration to
the startup configuration.
Verifies that the system VLAN long-name feature
is enabled.
