BATTERY ELECTROLYTE LEVEL CHECK
To check electrolyte level:
•
Rest the vehicle on its centre stand.
•
Lift the saddle.
•
Unscrew and remove the two screws
«1».
•
Remove the battery protection.
•
Check that the electrolyte level is be-
tween the two «MIN» and «MAX »
notches stamped on the battery side.
Otherwise:
•
Remove the battery.
•
Remove the cell caps.
•
Restore the electrolyte level by adding
distilled water.
CAUTION
USE ONLY DISTILLED WATER TO TOP-UP ELECTROLYTE
FLUID. DO NOT EXCEED THE «MAX» MARK SINCE THE
LEVEL INCREASES DURING RECHARGE.
BATTERY RECHARGE
CAUTION
IF THERE IS A VIBRATION NOISE COMING FROM THE START-UP RELAY WHEN THE STARTER
BUTTON IS PRESSED, THE BATTERY IS COMPLETELY DISCHARGED.
•
Remove the battery.
•
Remove the cell caps.
•
Check the battery electrolyte level.
•
Connect the battery to a battery charger.
•
It is advisable to recharge at a current of 1/10 of the battery rated capacity.
•
Once the battery is recharged, control the electrolyte level and top up with distilled water if
required.
•
Refit the caps to the cells.
CAUTION
REFIT THE BATTERY ONLY 5-10 MINUTES AFTER DISCONNECTING THE CHARGER AS THE
BATTERY KEEPS PRODUCING GASES FOR A SHORT TIME.
CAUTION
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS LEFT UNUSED FOR OVER TWENTY DAYS, DISCONNECT THE 20A FUSE
TO PREVENT BATTERY DETERIORATION. REMOVING THE 20 A FUSES RESETS THESE FUNC-
TIONS: DIGITAL CLOCK AND OVERREVVING SETTING.
