Installing Components in the 5.25" Drive Bays
The 7048R-C1RT/7048R-C1R has one 5.25" drive bay into which a DVD-ROM
drive may be installed.
1. First power down the system and then remove the top/left chassis cover to
access the drive components.
2. With the cover off, remove the two or four screws that secure the drive carrier
to the chassis (one side only) then push the entire empty drive carrier out
from the back.
Adding a DVD-ROM Drive
1. Remove the guide plates (one on each side) from the empty drive carrier and
screw them into both sides of the DVD-ROM drive using the holes provided.
2. Slide the DVD-ROM into the bay and secure it to the chassis with the drive
carrier screws you first removed.
3. Attach the power and data cables to the drive.
4. Replace the top/left chassis cover before restoring power to the system.

Mobile Rack (Storage Module)

If the 7048R-C1RT/7048R-C1R is to be used in a rack configuration, you must rotate
the mobile rack enclosure module 90 degrees. This can be done before, during, or
after setup. Although the drives in the mobile rack may be hot-swapped, the system
must be shut down to rotate the mobile rack.
Rotating the Mobile Rack
1. Power down the system and remove the power cords.
2. Open the chassis cover.
3. Disconnect any cables from the back of the mobile rack.
4. Lift the mobile rack release levers to unlock the mobile rack (levers are lo-
cated at the top and bottom of the rear of the mobile rack).
5. Grasp the edges of the mobile rack and pull it from the chassis.
6. Turn the module 90 degrees (as illustrated).

7. Reinsert the module into the enclosure and reconnect the cables.
8. Reconnect the power cords to the power supplies and turn the system on.
