Installing the optional optical drive

Prerequisites
CAUTION:
Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple
repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage
due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that are
shipped with your product.

Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions section.

Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system section.
Steps
1
If installed, remove the optical drive blank, and then press the blue release tab at the back of the blank and push the blank out of the
system.

Align the optical drive with the optical drive slot on the front of the chassis.
3
Slide the optical drive into the slot until the latch snaps into place.
4
Connect the power and data cable to the back of the drive.
5
Route the power and data cable through the cable routing guides on the system chassis.
