The CD-ETIA detects the PoE class of the attached device based on the device's
class signature. Once the class has been detected, CD-ETIA must reserve the
maximum power allowed for that class device, since the device may consume up to
the maximum amount at any time. Therefore, when a device is connected, the
available power is reduced by the maximum amount for the detected PoE class. This
is reflected by "Power Available (mW)". CD-ETIA also measures the actual power
consumed by each device (which may be much less than the maximum for the PoE
class) and displays this value as "Power (mW)".
An example using NEC equipment: -
An IP Multiline terminal (DT7XX) is a class 2 device, this will take 7000mW from the
total available when plugged in.
So, for a single ETIA in a cabinet, this 90,000mW available so can power up to 8
MLTs.
If two cards, each will be alocated 45,000mW, so can power up to 6 IP MLTs each.
If three cards, each will be allocated 30,000mW, so can power up to 4 IP MLTs each.
An IP DECT Access Point (DAP - AP200S) acts a Class 3 device taking 15,000mW
from the total available when plugged in.
