CAUTION:
This procedure requires removing the enclosure from the rack. Before removing the enclosure, ensure
that data on the system is backed up. Back up data if necessary.

Removing the enclosure backplane

Procedure
1.
Disconnect all cables from the enclosure, including the power cables.
2.
Loosen the rear CTO hold-down bracket.
3.
Loosen the captive CTO screws (2) behind the latch (1) on the front left and right bezel ears of the
enclosure.
4.
Slide the enclosure out of the rack and set it on a secure surface.
5.
Label all the disk drives with the slot number before removing them to ensure they are reinstalled in the
proper enclosure bays.
6.
Remove all the disk drives. See Removing a disk drive on page 52.
7.
Remove the power supplies. See Removing a power supply on page 60.
8.
Perform one of the following depending on which type of enclosure is involved.
a. If you are replacing the backplane in a drive enclosure, remove the I/O modules. See
Removing an I/O module on page 58.
b. If you are replacing the backplane in a array enclosure, remove the controller modules. See
Removing a controller module on page 56.
9.
Remove the fan modules. See Removing a fan module on page 62.
10. Pull the hood latch up and back (1 and 2), and lift the enclosure cover up and remove it (3).
