The keyboard illustration on page 18 shows shifted alphabetic char-
acters that aren't printed on the keyboard. You can use these
characters as you would any other alphabetic character.
If you press an alphabetic key when the (U) annunciator is not on,
the HP-18C displays:
PRESS EXIT, OR TYPE
A
MESSAGE & PRESS [PRNTJ

If you have the printer designed for use with the HP-18C, you can
now print a message (refer to page 156 for additional information).
Otherwise, you should press
I
EXIT
I
to erase the message.
