Loosen the wheel lug nuts. Do not remove
them.

Block the non-steer wheels and place a lifting
jack under the steer axle.

Raise the machine. Place blocks under the
drive chassis for support.

Remove the lug nuts. Remove the tire and
wheel assembly.

Remove the dust cap, cotter pin and castle
nut.
Note: Always use a new cotter pin when installing
a castle nut.

Pull the hub off the yoke spindle. The washer
and outer bearing should fall loose from the
hub.

Place the hub on a flat surface and gently pry
the grease seal out of the hub. Remove the
inner bearing.
Note: When removing a bearing, always use a new
inner bearing seal.

How to Install the Hub and

Note: When replacing a wheel bearing, both the
inner and outer bearings, including the pressed-in
races, must be replaced.

Be sure that both bearings are packed with
clean, fresh grease.

Place the large inner bearing into the rear of
the hub.
3
Install a new bearing grease seal into the hub
by pressing it evenly into the hub until it is
flush.
Note: Always replace the bearing grease seal
when removing the hub.

Slide the hub onto the yoke spindle.
Component damage hazard. Do
not apply excessive force or
damage to the lip of the seal
may occur.

Fill the hub cavity with clean, fresh grease.

Place the outer bearing into the hub.

Install the washer and castle nut.
8
Tighten the castle nut to 158 ft-lbs / 214 Nm to
seat the bearings.
Note: Rotate the hub by hand while torquing the
castle nut to make sure the bearings seat properly.

Loosen the castle nut one full turn and then
torque to 35 ft-lbs / 47 Nm.
10 Install a new cotter pin. Bend the cotter pin to
lock it in place.
Note: Always use a new cotter pin when installing
a castle nut.
11 Install the dust cap, then the tire and wheel
assembly.
12 Lower the machine and remove the blocks.
13 Torque the wheel lug nuts to specification.
