Using the CD or DVD Drive

Playing Audio CDs

Did you know...
audio CD. These keys are shown in "Function Keys" in
Chapter 2 of this guide.
To play an audio CD, insert the disc
into the CD or DVD drive. After a
few seconds the Windows Media
Player opens and the disc
automatically starts playing.
Windows 98 and Windows 2000—If disc play does not start
automatically, complete the following steps:
1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start, point to Programs,
Accessories, Entertainment, and then click Windows
Media Player.
2. After the Windows Media Player opens, click the Play
button to begin playing the CD.
3. Click the Stop button to stop playing the CD.
To remove the disc from the drive, click the Eject button on the
CD or DVD drive.
Windows XP Home—If disc play does not start automatically,
complete the following steps:
1. Click the Start button on the Windows taskbar. The Windows
Start menu is displayed.
2. Click the Windows Media Player icon. The Windows
Media Player dialog box is displayed.
3. Click Copy from CD.
4. Insert the audio CD you want to play into the CD drive.
