Step 6. Reinstall the drive bay filler panel that you removed earlier, if needed.
Step 7. If you are installing additional simple-swap hard disk drives, do so now.
Step 8. Turn on the peripheral devices and the server.

Removing the optical drive cable

Use this information to remove the optical drive cable.
Note: The optical drive is available only on some models.
To remove the optical cable, complete the following steps:
Step 1. Read the safety information that begins on "Safety" on page v and "Installation guidelines" on
page 297.
Step 2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords.
Step 3. Remove the top cover (see "Removing the top cover" on page 149).
Step 4. Remove the fan cage assembly (see "Removing the fan cage assembly" on page 178).
Step 5. Pull the connector toward the front of the server to remove the optical drive cable from the
connector on the system board.
