Ink leaks
between the point
and adaptor.
Pen tips wear out
rapidly.
Lines look
wavy.
Line width is not
uniform.
Ink flow is
uneven.
Ink smears or
doesn't dry.
Possible Cause
There is static
buildup on the
medium.
Internal airflow is
obstructed or vent
is clogged.
Film surface is
abrasive.
Pen tip is
damaged.
Plotter may need
adjustment.
Pen is dirty.
Ink flow is
insufficient.
Pen is dirty.
Pen speed is
too
fast.
Pen is running
out of ink.
Ink is too thick
for the pen point.
Ink and medium
are incompatible.
SELECTING PENS
Solution
Reduce pen
speed, increase
humidity, use
static-resistant
film or another
medium.
Clean the pen.
Use HP film.
If the tip is not
centered, replace
it.
If wavy lines are
not caused by a
damaged pen,
contact an HP
servIce
representative.
Clean the pen.
Reduce.pen speed
or use thinner
ink.
