Air Cap/Nozzle/Resistor Stud
Replacement
Removal
1. Prepare the gun for service as instructed on
page 35.
2. Point the front end of the gun up while removing
the air cap assembly (1, 3, 9, 12). See Fig. 26.
CAUTION
Hold the front end of the gun up while removing the
nozzle and resistor stud to help drain the gun and
prevent any fluid left in the gun from entering the air
passages.
3. Remove the fluid nozzle (14) with the multi-tool
(83).
The resistor stud (15) should come out with the
fluid nozzle. If the resistor stud remains in the gun,
start the nozzle threads onto the resistor stud and
pull it out.
4. Unscrew the resistor stud (15) from the fluid
nozzle (14) with the multi-tool (83). See Fig. 27.
WARNING
FIRE, EXPLOSION, AND ELECTRIC
SHOCK HAZARD
The resistor stud contact ring (S) is a
conductive contact ring, not a sealing
o-ring. See Fig. 26. To reduce the risk of
sparking, which could cause a sparking
or electric shock, do not remove the
resistor stud contact ring (S) or operate
the gun without the contact ring in place.
Do not replace the resistor stud (15) with
anything but a genuine Graco part.
