Taking Pictures with the Self-timer

1 Switch the self-timer setting.
: Self-timer set to 10 seconds
: Self-timer set to 2 seconds
No display (cancelled)
2 Focus on the subject to take the
picture.
• If you press the [MENU] button when
the self-timer is set, the self-timer
setting is cancelled.

• When using a tripod or in other cases,
setting the self-timer to 2 seconds is a
convenient way to stabilize the jitter
caused by pressing the shutter button.
• The self-timer indicator 1
blinks and the shutter is
activated after 10 seconds
(or 2 seconds).
• When you press the button
fully with one stroke, the
subject is automatically focused just
before the recording. In dark places, the
self-timer indicator blinks and then it may
turn on brightly to work as the AF assist
lamp (P64) for focusing on the subject.
• In simple mode [
is fixed to 10 seconds.
• When you set the self-timer in the burst
mode, the camera starts taking a picture 2
or 10 seconds after the shutter button is
pressed. The number of pictures taken at
a time is fixed to 3.
• We recommend using a tripod when
setting the self-timer.
