7. Remove and retain the hardware on both sides of the
deck

3. Remove the rear deck-lift attachment shoulder bolt and nut.
4. Remove the front deck-lift attachment shoulder bolt and nut.
8. Raise the deck struts and secure them in the up
position.

9. Slide the deck out to the right side of the machine.

Replacing the Grass Deflector

WARNING
An uncovered discharge opening could allow the
lawn mower to throw objects at you or bystanders,
resulting in serious injury. Also, contact with the
blade could occur.
Do not operate the lawn mower unless you install
a cover plate, a mulch plate, grass deflector, or
bagger.
1. Remove the locknut, the bolt, the spring, and the spacer
holding the deflector to the pivot brackets
2. Remove the damaged or worn grass deflector

3. Place the spacer and the spring onto grass deflector.
4. Place 1 J-hook end of the spring behind the deck edge.
Note: Ensure that 1 J-hook end of the spring is
installed behind the deck edge before installing the bolt
as shown in
Figure
5. Install the bolt and the nut.
6. Place 1 J-hook end of the spring around the grass
deflector
(Figure
Important: The grass deflector must be able
to rotate. Lift the deflector up to the full-open
position and ensure that it rotates into the full
down position.
