Raising the Fuel Tank

Refer to Saf ety Precautions
The fuel tank must be raised to service the
rear cylinder spark plug.
The fuel tank does not require draining for
this procedure.
1. Park your motorcycle on its side stand
on a firm, level surface with the
transmission in neutral and ignition
switch OFF.
2. Check that the fuel fill cap is closed.
3. Remove the front seat (page 78).
4. Remove the bolts (1) and washers.

5. Insert a pin spanner ( ) into an
extension bar ( ). 3
6. Raise the front of the fuel tank (4) and
temporarily install one of the removed
bolts in the frame body as shown.

7. Place the base of the extension bar over
the installed bolt and position the pin
spanner so that it supports the fuel tank.
