Downloading
the Software
Code on an
Active CPU
through the
PCMCIA

To download new software onto the active CPU using the PCMCIA
flash card:
* Note: Read the following items before attempting to download
from the PCMCIA card.
PCMCIA operations can only be carried out on the CLI.
■
Only PCMCIA memory cards purchased from Avaya Inc. are
■
supported in the PCMCIA slot of the M8000R-SUP supervisor
module.
16-MB PCMCIA cards support only one image of the switch
■
software.
If you specify CardApp1 or CardApp2 for the software
■
image that the switch loads when it starts and a PCMCIA card
is not installed, the switch will start in Boot mode.
1. Connect the Ethernet port on the supervisor module in slot 1
to the network.
* Note: Use an Ethernet cable in the 10Base-T port on
the supervisor module front panel
2. Telnet into the switch.
3. Place the PCMCIA flash card (Centennial, part number
110-0033-001) into the PCMCIA carrier on the front of the
80-Series supervisor module
* Note: You must only use the PCMCIA flash card that
you can order form Avaya Inc.
4. Access Configure mode on the switch CLI.
5. Enter the following command from the console to initialize
the PCMCIA card:
cajun (configure)# enable pcmcia
