Using a product that has been incorrectly assembled could lead to an accident or serious injury.   • Page 21 Before you start Installing a blade WARNING Do not attempt to fit the trimmer blade with one hand or without using the socket spanner. Fit the trimmer blade ac- curately using the supplied socket spanner and tighten firmly in position. The trimmer must not be used if the blade vibrates or is loose.
  • Page 22 Before you start Put holder B and bolt guard back and at this time only finger tighten the bolt. Make sure holder B is flat against the blade. The recess in holder B must face the blade and completely cover the safety clip. Rotate holder A until the hole in its skirt aligns with the hole in the gear case.

    Before you start Installing a trimmer head Make sure the switch is turned off and the engine is stopped. Turn the unit over so the shaft from the gearcase is faces up. IMPORTANT The shaft bolt, bolt guard, and safety clips are not used with a trimmer head cutting attachment.

If the cutting attachment rotates even though the throttle trigger is in the idle speed position when the engine is start- ed, adjust the carburettor before using the product.

    Engine operation Stopping the engine Move the throttle trigger to the idle speed position and set the engine to idling (i.e. low speed). Move the ignition switch to the Stop position. In the event of an emergency, stop the engine immediately using the ignition switch.

    Trimming operation Always wear proper eye protection against thrown objects. Objects can bounce up at you from the ground under the shield, or ricochet off any nearby hard surface. Do not trim at high speed near roadways when there is traffic, or in places where there are pedestrians.
  • Page 32 Trimming operation Use correct blade Always use the blade suited for the job. Do not allow the trimmer blade to come into contact with hard obstructions such as stone, concrete or metal. Do not cut into the ground with the blade. If the blade hits an obstruction, turn the engine off immediately and ensure that the trimmer blade has stopped rotating before checking the blade and shield for damage.

    Trimming operation Kickback. If you hit a hard object with the front-right of the trimmer blade, such as when trimming in both directions, the blade will kick sharply back to the right. This is a phenomenon known as "kick back", and can cause a serious accident due to the operator los- ing control over the product.

    Maintenance Maintenance WARNING Before performing any maintenance, repair, or cleaning work on your unit, make sure the engine and cutting attach- ment are completely stopped. Disconnect the spark plug wire before performing service or maintenance work. Never repair a damaged blade by welding, straightening, or by modifying its shape. An altered blade may break dur- ing operation, resulting in serious personal injury.

    Maintenance Carburettor adjustment WARNING When the carburettor is being adjusted, the cutting attachment may move. Be careful not to get injured. CAUTION When starting, idle speed adjustment screw (T) should be adjusted not to rotate the cutting attachment. When there is some trouble with the carburettor, contact your dealer. Every unit is test run at the factory and the carburettor is fine tuned for maximum performance.

Si une fois le moteur allumé, l'outil de coupe tourne alors que la gâchette d'accélérateur est positionnée sur le régime de ralenti, régler le carburateur avant d'utiliser l'appareil.

Wenn sich die Schneidvorrichtung beim Starten dreht, obwohl der Gashebel auf Leerlaufdrehzahl eingestellt ist, justieren Sie den Vergaser nach, bevor Sie das Produkt verwenden.
