HAPTER
To install the VCX V7111, follow these steps:
Unpack the VCX V7111(see Unpacking).

Check the package contents (see Package Contents)

Mount the VCX V7111 (see "Mounting the VCX V7111" on page 14).

Cable the VCC V7111(see "Cabling the VCX V7111" on page 18).

After connecting the VCX V7111 to the power source, the Ready and LAN LEDs on the front
panel turn to green (after a self-testing period of about 1 minute). Any malfunction changes
the Ready LED to red (see Monitoring the VCX V7111 Front Panel LEDs on page 45 for
details on the VCX V7111 LEDs).
You're now ready to start configuring the gateway (see Chapter 3: Configuring the VCX
V7111 on page 27).

Unpacking

To unpack the VCX V7111, follow these steps:
Open the carton and remove the packing materials.

Remove the VCX V7111 gateway from the carton.

Check that there is no equipment damage.

Check, retain and process any documents.

Notify 3Com or your local supplier of any damage or discrepancies.

Retain any diskettes or CDs.

Package Contents

Ensure that the VCX V7111 package contains (in addition to the device):
AC power cable for the AC power supply option.
DC terminal block (VCX V7111 24FXS only, for the DC power supply option).
CD (software and documentation).
