Firmware Upgrade
Update the firmware,
u
when Siemens provides a new firmware version
u
you wish to use a language that is not preset in the router (the preset languages are
English and German). Please refer to the description on page 46.
If you wish to load the latest firmware on your router you will first need the new firm-
ware release. You will find this on the Siemens website
www.siemens-mobile.com/gigasetse505. Download the new firmware from the Sie-
mens website and save it on your PC.
If you have undertaken an extensive configuration on your router, it

makes sense to save the configuration before you load the new firmware
onto the router (see section entitled "Saving and restoring a configura-
tion" on page 93).
Now proceed as follows:

Close down all network activities on your local network.
u
In the Administration menu, select Firmware Upgrade.
u
Click on Browse and from your file system select the file you have downloaded from
the Internet. The required file has the format siemens_nn.x.yy.zz., nn being the sym-
bol for the required language:

Germany
fr
France
it
Italy
nl
Netherlands
sp
Spain
x.yy.zz stands for the release number of the firmware, e.g. siemens_fr_3.00.05.

Each of the above language versions loads the English firmware on
the router at the same time.
