Coolant temperature display

Pointer in zone at
= Engine operating
left
temperature not
yet reached
Pointer between
= Normal operating
the zones
temperature
Pointer in
= Temperature too
warning zone at
high: Stop. Switch
right or W is
off engine. Risk of
illuminated
engine damage.
Check coolant level
immediately, see
page 271.
For physical reasons, the engine
temperature gauge shows the coolant
temperature only if the coolant level is
adequate.
During operation the system is pressurised.
The temperature may therefore rise briefly
to over 100 °C.

Fuel gauge

Pointer in
= Reserve area
left zone or
Y illuminated
Pointer in
= Refuelling, see

Y flashing
Never run the tank dry!
Diesel engines: If the tank is run dry, bleed
the fuel system as described on page 226.
Because of the fuel remaining in the tank,
the amount of fuel required to fill the tank
may be less than the specified tank
capacity.
