Recording onto a tape

(For African and Pan Asian models
only)
You can record on a TYPE I (normal) tape
in three ways:
CD-TAPE Synchro Recording:
You can record an entire disc onto a tape.
Manual Recording:
You can record just the portions you want
from a sound source, including connected
audio components.
Sound Mixing:
You can "mix" sounds by playing one of
the sound sources and singing or speaking
into a microphone (not supplied). The
mixed sound can be recorded onto a tape.

Load a recordable tape into the
tape deck with the side you want
to record facing up.

Prepare the recording source.
Select the source you want to record.
For CD-TAPE Synchro Recording
Press CD to select the CD function.
Load the disc you want to record, and
press DISC SKIP (or DISC 1 – 3 on the
unit) repeatedly to select the disc.
• To select the play mode, press PLAY
MODE repeatedly when playback is
stopped (see "To change the play
mode" (page 19)).
• To record your favorite CD tracks or
MP3 files in the order you want,
perform steps 2 to 6 of "Creating
your own program" (page 33).
When programming, make sure the
playing times do not exceed the
length of one side of the tape.
For Manual Recording and Sound
Mixing
Press the function button to select the
source (except tape) you want to
record.
When recording from a disc or USB
device, press NX (or N on the
remote) to start playback.
If you want to record your voice
through the microphone only, you can
do so by selecting the PC function and
not playing the source.

Start recording.
Press z and B on the tape deck at the
same time.
For CD-TAPE Synchro Recording
The disc starts playing automatically
after 10 seconds.
"TAPE", "SYNC" and "REC" light up
in the display.
For Manual Recording and Sound
Mixing
Start playing the recording source.
"TAPE" and "REC" light up in the
display.
If there is noise while recording from
the tuner, reposition the antenna to
reduce the noise.
To stop recording
Press x Z on the tape deck.
Notes
• We recommend that you press X on the tape
deck first, then press x Z on the tape deck to
avoid noise being recorded when you stop
recording.
• You cannot eject the disc, select another disc,
track or file, pause playback or find a point in
the track or file during CD-TAPE Synchro
Recording.
