2. With the GMX 200 switched off, verify that all existing avionics systems are functioning properly.
3. Turn the GMX 200 on and remove power from all other avionics systems.
Removing power from systems interfaced to the GMX 200 will cause the
associated system flags on the GMX 200 to be displayed. This is normal
behavior and does not constitute a test failure.
4. Apply power to the other avionics systems one at a time and verify that the system is functioning
properly without any unacceptable interference caused by the GMX 200. Ensure that there is no
unacceptable interference in the GMX 200 when the avionic system is powered up. Wait for the
system to begin functioning normally before applying power to the next system.

W SI AV-300/350 Checkout Procedure
8 6 B
The checkout procedure to verify proper FIS datalink sensor operation with the GMX 200 is the same for
the WSI AV-300 or AV-350 sensor. The GMX 200 supports the weather datalink portion and not the
audio portion of the AV-350. This procedure may be conducted in a hangar as it verifies proper serial
communication between the FIS sensor and the GMX 200. The WSI antenna requires a clear view of the
sky towards the south to verify satellite signal reception.
This procedure verifies correct installation and operation of the GMX
200 FIS function and wiring between the GMX 200 and WSI AV-300 or
AV-350 FIS sensor. It does not activate WSI weather products or the
Sirius Satellite Radio audio function. Instructions for activating the WSI
or Sirius Satellite Radio provided features can be found in the WSI AV-
300/350 Installation Manual.
1. Apply power to the AV-300/350 and wait a minimum of 3 minutes, 15 seconds.
2. Turn on the GMX 200 and wait for the startup screen to appear. The GMX 200 must be started after
the AV-300/350 has finished its startup sequence to ensure proper operation.
3. After the GMX 200 has been running for two minutes, verify that the LINK flag is not displayed.
Refer to Section 6, Troubleshooting if the flag appears. The flag is an indication that the GMX 200 is
not receiving data from the AV-300/350.
4. Select the Flight Information Service (FIS) function on the GMX 200.
5. Press the MENU/ENT key.
6. Press the Status Menu Option Key.
7. Press the Stats Smart key.
8. Verify that the Receiver ID matches the ID on the AV-300/350 label. The ID number appears as two
alternating portions of the whole ID number.
9. This concludes the checkout procedure.
The Stats and Prod pages can be used to observe AV-300/350 operation of the FIS function. Verification
of the audio function cannot be performed with the GMX 200.
