For new installations, refer to the HAI Installation Manual for advice on choosing a location
for the thermostat.
¾ For Installations Where an Existing Thermostat is Being Replaced
Verify the location is within RF range (100 feet) of the security panel.
Turn off all power to the heating, cooling and thermostat circuits before wiring.
The existing location and wiring to the heating/cooling system can usually be reused without
modification. Carefully record the connections to the old thermostat. This information aids in
installing the RF Thermostat. Remove the existing thermostat and connect the RF Thermostat
in its place.
Some retrofit installations may not supply sufficient power to operate the thermostat. These
installations may require an additional wire run to the heating/cooling system or the HAI
Model 30A00 Thermostat Power Supply.
Retain the old thermostat until the installation of the RF Thermostat is complete and working
properly.

Some older thermostats contain substantial amounts of mercury. Mercury is a hazardous
substance. Dispose of the old thermostat in accordance with local government regulations
and practices.

1. Press down on the top two latches of the RF Thermostat and pull the front away from the base
(see Figure 1). Set the front part aside.

2. Place the base of the RF Thermostat on the wall (with the word "TOP" upright and facing
you) at the desired mounting location. Mark the two mounting holes and the wiring opening
(see Figure 2).

3. Drill a hole using a 3/16" bit at each mounting hole location. Make a hole at the Wire Open-
ing location to run the wires to the RF Thermostat.
