a. Battery is flat or fails to work, or its contact is loose or damaged.
b. The Power key wears off over time.
c. There is something wrong with the kernel program.
d. The mainboard acts up and causes system startup failure.
Solution:
a. Remove the battery. If the problem is solved after the PT30 is connected to an external
power supply, then you can narrow down the causes to low battery or damaged battery. In
this case, just recharge the battery or replace it.
b. Replace the keypad PCB. For more information, see Section 10.1.
c. Download the kernel program onto the PT30.
d. Replace the mainboard.

10.5 Barcode Reading Problem

Malfunction: Cannot read barcode after pressing the Scan key on the keypad.
Analysis: This problem may be caused by:
a. Improper scan engine configuration: for instance, mistakenly enable LASER scan engine
when using CMOS scan engine.
b. Incorrect scan distance or operations.
c. The Scan key wears off over time.
d. The flat flexible cable connected to the scan engine is loose or damaged.
e. The scan engine is broken.
Solution:
a. Check the scan engine configuration: On the desktop of the PT30, tap Start – Settings –
Control Panel, double tap Fireware Information. Check if the scan engine configuration
(see Fig. 10-6 ) matches the actual situation. If not, please contact our after-sales service.
