With a power amplifier
If your amplifier has a preamp output and a final amplifier input (see amplifier instruction
book), use the line inputs/outputs as described before. If it does not, use the "High Level"
inputs/outputs as follows: Instead of connecting the speaker outputs from your amplifier to
the speakers, connect them to the "High Level" inputs
on the subwoofer, then connect the
speakers to the "High Level" outputs
on the subwoofer. Take care to observe the correct
polarity, i.e. (+) to (+) and (–) to (–).
MAINS VOLTAGE SETTING
Your subwoofer incorporates an amplifier and as such, must be connected to the main sup-
ply via the cable supplied. The mains voltage selector is set at the factory to 230 V, for use
in European Countries.
Very Important: NEVER connect your subwoofer to a 230 V supply with the voltage selec-
tor set to 115 V as this will cause severe damage to the amplifier.
THE "POWER" SWITCH
This switch has three positions: "On", "Off" and "Auto". We recommend you select the "Auto"
position which switches the amplifier on automatically when it detects a music signal and swit-
ches it off again appoximately 15 minutes after receiving the last signal.
VOLUME
This control enables you to set the level of bass which best suits your tastes:
1. Set the bass control on your amplifier to the mid-position (linear)
2. Very Important: Turn the volume control all the way to the left .i. to minimum volume
3. Switch on the music, then turn up the volume until you reach the desired level
FREQUENCY CROSSOVER CONTROL
This control sets the subwoffer's maximum frequency handling capacity. The correct crossover
frequency setting depends on the bass handling capacity of your satellite speakers. This ran-
ges from 120–150 Hz for the small micro-enclosures, to 80 Hz for the small shelf speakers
and 50 Hz for the larger shelf speakers and the column speakers. If in doubt, set the cross-
over frequency to the position which best suits your ear.
