AIR CLEANER SERVICE

1.Use a screwdriver to loosen the
latch and open the left side
maintenance cover.
2.Unsnap the air cleaner cover
clips, and remove the air cleaner
cover.
3.Check the foam air filter and
paper air filter to be sure they
are clean and in good condition.
If the foam air filter is dirty,
clean it as described on page 48.
Replace the foam air filter if it is
damaged.
If the paper air filter is dirty,
replace it with a new one. Do
not clean the paper air filter.
4.Reinstall the air cleaner cover.
5.Close and latch the left side
maintenance cover.
Operating the engine without an air
filter or with a damaged air filter
will allow dirt to enter the engine,
causing rapid engine wear. This
type of damage is not covered by
the Distributor's Limited Warranty.
