7.1 Common Difficulties

If you are having a problem installing or configuring the
High-Speed Parallel PCI PC Plus Adapter, keep these
things in mind:
• Because the Adapter uses PCI rather than ISA I/O
address ranges, it will never be seen by your BIOS
at boot-up as a standard parallel port occupying
0278 hex or 0378 hex, even if you've selected one
of these addresses for it in Windows using the
procedure descibed in Chapter 5. This is normal,
and does not indicate a fault in your Adapter.
• The Adapter will not work at address 0278 hex or
0378 hex if it is installed in a PCI slot that is
behind a PCI-to-PCI bridge. If you have trouble
installing the Adapter, try seating it in a different
slot.
