In this case two files with the same names, but with different extensions — .atm and atm.2, are created. The file with the .atm extension is designed for further use in the ATM Control application. The file with the .atm2 extension is designed for further remote configuration of the modem via the iRZ Collec- tor dispatching application.
  • Page 28: Device Operating Procedure

When operating with the iRZ Collector specialized server, the modem sends a keepalive packet to the iRZ Collector server to verify connection if data transmission is not available for over a minute. If there is no re- sponse to the keepalive packets, the server clears the connection.
  • Page 29: Offline Mode

Data communication with a computer is carried out via USB interface in the service mode. In this case the modem is recognized as a virtual COM port. You can configure the modem using the ATM Control configuration utility as well as using the AT commands in any terminal program.

The modem firmware can be updated both locally by connecting it to a computer – via the ATM Control con- figuration utility, and remotely (when using the iRZ Collector solution) – via the iRZ Collector dispatching appli- cation. Remote firmware updating is supported if you use the iRZ Collector solution in your data collection and device management system.

Two clients cannot intercommunicate direct- ly: they need a server. For this reason, the iRZ Collector server has been developed, which serves as a «layer» between the modem client and the software-client providing their communication. Besides, the iRZ Collector provides remote monitoring, firmware updating and configuring the system of modems, as well as sending SMS command to the modem via the dispatching application.

4.16.1. Setting Up Pins of the «Input» Type The pin set to «input» can operate in the normal or inverse modes. In the normal mode the input high level (level «1») is regarded as an active signal, and the low level (level «0») – a passive one. The modem regards the input high level in the inverse mode as a passive signal, and the low level - as an active one.

In the Server mode the modem supports operation with the IRZ Collector software solution. To receive data from an external device connected to the modem-server there is no need to deploy the iRZ Collector server - the modem-server can be accessed directly. However, the iRZ Collector server enables the remote modems to be monitored and controlled from the dispatching center.
