the sWItch
3 Remove

screw

by

battery
cable
2 Remove
the accelerator lInkage

Detach the shIft Imkage
4 DIsconnect
the neutral safety
sWItch and downshIft solenoId

5 Remove
the dram
plug
and dram
the torque
converter
If there
IS no con
verter
dram plug dram the
transmISSIOn
Dlsconnectmg
torque converter
bolts
through
access
hole
If there
IS no
transmIssIOn
dram
plug
remove
the
pan to
dram
Replace
the
pan
to
keep
out
dIrt

the front exhaust
pIpe
7 Remove
the
vacuum
tube and
speedometer
cable
8 DIsconnect the flUId cooler tubes
9 Remove
the dnveshaft and
starter

Support
the
transmISSIOn
WIth
a
Jack under the 011
pan
Support
the
engIne
also
11 Remove
the
rear
crossmember

Mark the
relabonshlP
between the
torque
converter
and the dnve
plate
Re
move
the four bolts holdmg the
converter
to
the dnve plate through the hole
at
the
front under the
engme
Unbolt the
trans
mISSIOn
from the
engme
13 Reverse the
procedure
for mstalla
tIon
Make
sure
that the dnve
plate
IS
warped
no more
than
0 020
m
Torque
the dnve plate
to
torque
converter
and
converter
housmg
to
engme
bolts
to
29 36
ft Ibs
Dnve
plate to
crankshaft
bolt torque
IS

Refill the
transmISSIOn
and check
the flUId level
