Lay
the
cap
on
the top of the distributor
and make
a
mark
on
the Side of the dIS
trIbutor
housmg
Just below the
No 1
spark plug
term
mal Make
sure
that the
rotor
pomts toward that mark when
you
mstall the distrIbutor
5 When the
dIstributor shaft has
reached the bottom of the hole
move
the
rotor
back and forth
slIghtly
until the
dnvmg lug
on
the end of the shaft
enters
the slots
cut
m
the end of the 011
pump
shaft and the dIstnbutor
assembly slIdes
down

stalled the breaker pomts should be

break

Install the distrIbutor hold down
bolt

Install the spark
plug
mto
the
No 1
spark
plug
hole and
continue
from
Step

of the
precedmg
distributor mstallatlon
procedure
ALTERNATOR
Alternator Precautions
To
prevent
damage
to
the alternator
and
regulator
the
followmg
precau
tionary
measures
must
be taken when
workmg
WIth the electrical system
1 Never
reverse
battery
connections
2 Booster battenes for
startmg
must
