1. Introduction

The KF-C16 PCMCIA Dual-speed Ethernet adapter is credit-card
sized adapter that provides an interface between a PCMCIA-ca-
pable computer and a network. The network can be an Ethernet net-
work or a Fast Ethernet network. The adapter complies with PCMCIA
v2.x standard and can be used in computers having PCMCIA Type
II or Type III PC Card slot.
The adapter is supplied with a media coupler which plugs into the
back end (15-pin receptacle) of the adapter. The other end of the
media coupler has an RJ-45 connector which receives the network
cable. Through the media coupler, the adapter can connect to a
10BASE-T Ethernet or a 100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet network. The
adapter features auto-negotiation functionality. It can negotiate with
an auto-negotiation capable device automatically for the speed
(10Mbps or 100Mbps) and duplex mode (half or full-duplex). The
media coupler features LED indicators for link and activity states,
and for the selected speed and duplex mode.

standards
• 100Mbps and 10Mbps data rate in compliance with IEEE 802.3
Ethernet standards 100BASE-TX and 10BASE-T
• Built-in 64KB RAM data buffer
• Half and Full-duplex support in 10Mbps mode
• Half-duplex support in 100Mbps mode
