Frequently Asked Questions

What can I do to eliminate choppy sound on the SPA 2102?
Experiencing choppy sounds on the SPA 2102 indicates that you do not have enough upstream bandwidth to
support your VoIP conversations. We require at least 80kbps in each direction to hold a stable conversation.
If you only have, for example, 128kbps upstream and also have a game player, FTP session or some other
function going on in your home while trying to have a phone conversation you could end up with your ATA
not being able to get the bandwidth it needs to support the call.
If I lose power or my internet connection goes down, will I lose phone service?
If you lose power, or your broadband service is unavailable, you will not have phone service. When the power
or broadband service resumes, it is recommended to reboot your ATA device.
When I make a telephone call, the call does not go through. Instead, I hear a fast busy signal.
