Exhaust g a s temperature (EGT) a s shown on the optional Cessna
Economy Mixture Indicator m a y be used a s a n aid for mixture leaning in
cruising flight at
75%
power o r less. To adjust the mixture. using this
indicator, lean to establish the peak EGT a s a reference point and then
enrichen the mixture by the desired increment based on figure
4-4.
A s noted in this table, operation at peak EGT provides the best fuel
economy. This results in approximately
4%
greater range than shown in
this handbook accompanied by approximately a
3
knot decrease in speed.
Under some conditions, engine roughness may occur while operating
a t peak EGT. In this case, operate at the Recommended Lean mixture. Any
change in altitude o r throttle position will require a recheck of EGT
indication.
STALLS
The stall characteristics a r e conventional and aural warning is
provided by a stall warning horn which sounds between
5
and
10
knots
above the stall in all configurations.
Power-off stall speeds a t maximum weight for both forward and aft
C.G. positions a r e presented in Section
5.
