Expansion Memory
Each Printer is shipped with 128MB of memory (DDR SDRAM). To expand the
memory for more complex print jobs and faster processing (RIP) speeds,
optional DIMMs (Dual Inline Memory Modules) may be installed in the two
memory slots provided on the Printer's main board. Additional memory in 64,
128, 256, or 512MB modules can be installed by a technician.
Compact Flash Memory Slot
The FS-C5020N and FS-C5030N Printers are equipped with one Compact
Flash Card slot. Users requiring access to additional fonts not installed within
the Printer, can use an optional Font Card to add fonts to the device. The Font
Card is read, via commands found on the Control Panel, automatically when
"powering on," or when resetting the Printer. Specific fonts to be placed into the
FS-C5020/30N Printer memory can be selected from the Operation Panel. In
addition, a Compact Flash Card can be used to store graphics such as logos
and letterhead information at the Printer, without requiring that data to be sent
over the network every time a document is printed. (Supports cards up to
256MBs.)
Hard Disk Drive (HD-ME4)
The optional 20GB Hard Disk Drive installed in the KUIO slot can be used to
store print jobs, fonts, macros, reduce the frequency of data sent from the
workstation to the Printer, and enable e-MPS (enhanced Multiple Printing
System) capabilities, and allow Electronic Sort.
Adding the Hard Disk Drive converts the FS-C5020/30N from a Page Printer to a
Document Printer. Since the print job is sent only once for multiple sets, network
traffic and computer spooling time are dramatically reduced.
Network Interface Cards
IB-11
The IB-11 supports the connection of RS-232C Serial devices.
IC159-WLAN
The IC159-WLAN is the IEEE 802.11b Wireless interface
card that allows users of laptops or mobile devices to print
to the FS-C5020N or FS-C5030N without physically connecting to the
network.
