Starting the engine

Pay attention to the following
information before starting the
vehicle:
• For safety reasons, the driver's seat
is equipped with a seat contact
switch. The engine can only be star-
ted when the operator is sitting on
the driver's seat. The function of the
seat contact switch must not be by-
passed.
• The seat contact switch is monitored
electronically. Any attempt at mani-
pulation can lead to the vehicle being
automatically locked against use.
• The Hako-Jonas 1500 may only be
used in ambient temperatures up to
40°C. It should not be started at tem-
peratures <-15°C. At extremely low
temperatures, the hydraulic system
requires a few minutes until it rea-
ches operating temperature and can
provide its full power output. Full
loads should only be applied to the
units on reaching operating tempera-
ture.
• If the start procedure must be repea-
ted or the engine stalls, it can only be
restarted after the ignition has been
switched off. A restart blocking sy-
stem in the ignition lock prevents re-
starting when the engine is running.
• Attempt to start continuously for
max. 20 seconds, allow a short pau-
se in between each start procedure
to save the batteries.
• The start procedure must be comple-
ted after approx. 1 minute. If the igni-
tion remains on too long without the
engine switching on, the start proce-
dure is interrupted. A service code
appears on the operating hour coun-
ter. Make another attempt to start the
engine after switching the ignition
off.
• If the vehicle is overloaded, the engi-
ne speed drops and the engine is
switched off.
• The accelerator must be in the neu-
tral position. The position of the ac-
celerator pedal is monitored.
