The remainder of the screen looks like a ground-
glass screen and is ideal for focusing telephoto
lenses and for close-range photography.
Caution: Before focusing, the eyepiece must
be set to the user's diopter value (see p. 33).
Additional focusing screens are available as
accessories. They offer optimum focusing for
different conditions and can be changed easily
(see p. 53).

Eyepiece shutter

The silicon photodiode of the exposure meter is
located in the base of the LEICA R7, where it is
protected from stray light. Normally, therefore,
there is little likelihood of light entering the
viewfinder eyepiece and affecting exposure
meter readings, except when your are not using
the viewfinder, e.g. for taking photographs from
a tripod, when direct sunlight or bright artificial
light may enter through the eyepiece. To prevent
this, turn the knob of the eyepiece shutter [30] at
the left to the eyepiece in the direction of the
arrow. When the shutter is in place, a white
triangle appears in the eyepiece.
