Batteries

The battery pack in the PDA is a Lithium Ion Polymer battery pack
3.7V. The power LED flashes blue to indicate a low battery state.
Do not turn on the unit for the first time until batteries have charged for at least thirteen (13)
hours. When you install the battery pack, the device will power on. Power off the PDA until the
batteries have charged for a minimum of thirteen (13) hours.
If you remove the battery or the battery completely discharges, there is a two (2) hour window in
which to insert a charged battery before the backup battery fails and the contents of the Flash
memory are lost.
If both the battery pack and the backup battery are allowed to discharge completely, you must
recharge both batteries for thirteen (13) hours.
CAUTIONS
Always charge the battery at 32°–113°F (0°–45°C) temperature range.
Use only the correct battery, power supplies, charger, and dock supplied by a PSC reseller. The
use of other battery supplies can damage the PDA and void your warranty. For the correct sup-
plies, refer to the PSC Price Book on
Lithium-ion battery packs may get hot, explode, ignite, or/and cause serious injury if exposed to
abusive conditions.
• Do not place the battery pack in or near fire, direct sunlight, heat, or other high temperature
locations.
• Do not install the battery pack backwards so the polarity is reversed.
• Do not connect the positive terminal and negative terminal of the battery pack to each other
with any metal object (such as a wire or coins).
• Do not expose the battery pack to liquids, or allow it to get wet.
• Do not disassemble, modify, or pierce the battery pack . It contains safety and protection

devices, which, if damaged, may cause it to generate heat, explode or ignite.
In the event the battery pack leaks and fluid gets into one's eye, do not rub the eye. Rinse well
with water and immediately seek medical care. If left untreated, the battery fluid could cause
damage to the eye.

Installing the Battery Pack

To charge the battery pack, complete the following steps:
1. On units with a handstrap, detach the handstrap by releasing its
