DRIVING YOUR MOTOR HOME
Step 3 - Crank Room Inward
· Begin cranking until all straps become taut,
then crank the room inward slowly (a few
"clicks" at a time, then wait a few seconds) so
that both sides pull in evenly. Allow about 10
minutes to crank room in fully. (Attempt-
ing to crank the room in too quickly will raise
fluid pressure in the hydraulic lines and make
cranking more difficult.)
NOTE: If one side pulls in ahead of the other, the
room will bind and the straps will be-
come extremely tight. If this happens you
must back off the crank to relieve pres-
sure on the straps and push the leading
side outward. Slide the winch hook on
the wall straps slightly toward the trail-
ing side, then resume cranking slowly.
When you are done cranking the room in,
the top or bottom of the room may still be
gapping out from the sidewall a few inch-
es on the outside of the coach. If this hap-
pens, unhook the strap for the side (top
or bottom) that is touching the sidewall,
then continue cranking on the remaining
strap until the gapped side is snug. Reat-
tach the other strap and snug up the
crank to hold the room in.
· When the bedroom is fully retracted, leave
the crank assembly and straps connected to
hold the room inward while driving the coach
to a servicing dealership.
Step 4 - Prep For Travel
· Before driving off, close solenoid valves on
hydraulic pump to prevent "creep out" during
transit. You may notice that a small amount
of hydraulic fluid overflowed onto the
ground while cranking. This is normal if the
reservoir was full.

NOTE: When the system has been corrected,
check hydraulic fluid level and refill res-
ervoir as necessary. Press the Retract
switch for 15 to 20 seconds before at-
tempting to extend the room. Then run

the room out and in several times to
purge any air from the hydraulic system.
Finally, recheck fluid level and fill as
necessary.
Bedroom Slideout Emergency 'Push-
In" Procedure - 40' Models
• Open the "slideout" hydraulic line valves on
the pump to relieve hydraulic line pressure.
(See Step 1 under "Slide-Out Room Emer-
gency Crank-In" on previous page.)
• DO NOT OPEN THE JACK VALVES ON
THE RESERVOIR SIDE OF THE PUMP.
These regulate the coach leveling jacks.
• Apply a steady inward pressure of approxi-
mately 150 lbs. to the exterior sidewall of the
slideout room to push the room in toward the
coach until it is snug against the main coach
sidewall.
• NOTE: Use some type of rigid, padded mate-
rial to protect the sidewall from punctures,
dents or other damage to the finish from any
device or equipment used to press the side-
wall in.
• Pressure must be applied evenly to avoid
binding of the hydraulic mechanism. It may
take about 10 minutes to press the room
extension inward completely.
• When the room is snug against the coach
wall, close the solenoid valves to prevent
"creep out" during transit.
