Creating a Splash Screen

To generate a custom splash screen, use Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft Visual C++
version 6.0. Select Insert, Resource. Next, select Bitmap, New.
To create the screen:
1. Create a 4-color bitmap with dimensions of BX x BY where:
BX is less than or equal to 240 pixels
BY is less than or equal to 320 pixels
4 colors must be selected
2. To change the bitmap properties, double-click on the bottom-right corner of the
bitmap when the cursor appears as a double arrow. The Bitmap Properties dialog
box displays.
3. Select Width (<240), Height (<320) and Colors (4).
4. Select 4 colors so that 2 bits are used for each pixel of data in the bitmap file.
5. Select a new file name.
To load the bitmap:
1. Click TCM.exe in the TCM directory.
2. Connect the PPT 2800 to the desktop computer and invoke IPL to prepare the
terminal to receive the splash screen download.
3. In the partition table, double-click on the Source column entry box for Splash
Screen. Select the bitmap file in the Specify Source dialog.
4. Double-click the Destination column entry box for Splash Screen.
5. Select Create Image in the Hex Image file dialog box.
6. After the image is created, select Load.
7. Close TCM.
