The T ooway M odem i s u sed t o e stablish d ata t ransfers u sing a
satellite a s a r elay. T he m odem's m ain f unction i s t o t ransform a n
input b itstream t o a r adio s ignal a nd v ice v ersa.
1.2 Satellite D ish
A s atellite d ish i s a n a ntenna w ith a c urved r eflective
surface t hat i s u sed t o c ollect a nd p roject r adio w aves.
The T ooway s atellite d ish i s d esigned t o s end a nd r eceive
microwaves t o a nd f rom t he c ommunication s atellite.
1.3 T RIA
A T RIA ( Transmit a nd R eceive I ntegrated A ssembly) i s a
device u sed t o p rocess s ignals t o a nd f rom t he d ish a nd
the s atellite. I t c onverts t he h igh f requency K A-­‐band
satellite s ignals t o a nd f rom t he L -­‐band m icrowave
signals u sed f or t he t ransmission b etween t he d ish a nd
the m odem.
