Gigabit Smart Switch The Fiber Port The switch is equipped with two fiber ports. They are provided to link to fiber to expand the switch application in various environment. The fiber ports are designed for other peripheral devices that require very high bandwidth. Using fiber cable to connect devices, it supports full-duplex data transfer rates of 1000Mbps.
Gigabit Smart Switch Installing the Switch This part describes how to install the Switch and make connections to it. Please read the following instructions step by step. Besides, the Switch does not need software installation. Install the Switch either on a desktop or a rack. Pre-Installation Considerations Before installing the Switch, make sure that the RS232 cable complies with cable specification.

Gigabit Smart Switch Getting Started Log-in As you finish Hyper Terminal Setup steps, the log-in screen will appear. You will be asked to enter the Username and Password. The default Username is “admin” and Password is blank, and then press Enter to continue.
Gigabit Smart Switch Switch Main Menu After you log in the Switch, the main menu will appear. The Switch Main Menu displays 9 subjects of configuration. Each subjects leads you to the screen for that management setting. Use arrow, TAB or back key to move and highlight the subject you would configure.
Gigabit Smart Switch Port Status The Port Status screen displays the status for each port. Select <Quit> to return to the previous panel, and <Refresh > to refresh status.
Gigabit Smart Switch Port Configuration The Port Configuration screen enables you to configure the ports including administrative status, auto negotiation, speed and duplex mode, and flow control. Select <Quit> to return to the previous panel, <Edit > to enter to edit, and <Save> to save the settings.
Gigabit Smart Switch Trunk Configuration Trunking combines ports into an aggregate link. The bandwidth of a network connection will increase with Trunking mode. 7 Trunking groups can be set. Toggle to enable or disable the trunking function of each group. Then, assign ports to each trunk by toggling your selection.
Gigabit Smart Switch VLAN Configuration VLAN Configuration lets you to select “VLAN Configuration”, “Advanced 802.1Q VLAN Setting”, and Return to Main Menu. Gigabit Smart Switch Port Monitoring Configuration Port Monitoring Configuration lets you to set the ports you would monitor. Select <Edit> to toggle port monitoring mode including “RX”, ”TX”, and ”RX & TX”. Enter to set mode. After selecting port monitoring mode, select <Edit> to edit the mode, monitoring port, and the ports that would be monitored.

Gigabit Smart Switch QoS Configuration QoS configuration enables you to set the priority of sending packets for each port. Select <Edit> to set QoS mode including Disabled QoS Priority, High Empty Than Low, High:Low=3:1, High:Low=5:1, and High:Low=7:1. Static Port Ingress Priority : Set the static port ingress priority Off, Low, or High.
Gigabit Smart Switch Bandwidth Control Bandwidth control enables you to set the rate of incoming and outgoing packets. Select <Quit> to return to the previous panel, <Edit > to enter to edit, and <Save> to save the settings.
Gigabit Smart Switch Misc Operation Misc operation enables you to view and set the Misc operation. Entering into each item to view and set the configuration. 1. Advanced Switch Configuration Broadcast Storm Filter—Select 5%, 20% or Off for the value. Collision Retry Forever—Select Enable or Disable.
