RADAR Menu – Transmission Time • There are two types of transmissions – continuous and timed. • A Timed Transmission is useful for conserving power. This is often used in sailing applications or when not running engines and helps extend battery run time. •...
Page 32
Radar Menu - Installation • Used for initial setup/installation of RADAR. • It should not need to be adjusted or changed by user after the installation has been completed.
Page 33
Radar Menu – Installation • Used to Auto Tune the RADAR. • Should not need to be used unless user perceives an obvious problem or when major service has been performed on the radar. • If used, Auto Tune needs to be accomplished in an open relatively unobstructed area.
Page 34
Radar Menu – Installation • Adjusts the return so that long straight lines appear straight on the display. • Too much trigger delay pulls objects into the center of the display. • Too little trigger delay pushes objects away from the center of the display.

Radar Menu – Installation • Used to filter out the Main Bang return in the immediate vicinity of the RADAR/boat. • Too much MBS will filter out close objects like boats and buoys. • Too little MBS leaves noise on the return that can hide close objects like boats and buoys.
Page 42
Radar Menu – Installation • Used to prevent the RADAR from transmitting in a certain direction. • Useful if the RADAR is installed on a fly bridge behind the user head or in front of their feet. • After setup RADAR shows where the blanked sector is for safety reasons.
Page 44
Radar Menu – Installation • Used to calibrate the heading of the RADAR with the keel of the boat. • Each installation will be slightly different so heading lines will have to be adjusted on the water • Using a finite target (usually a buoy or a small island/building) adjust heading line until RADAR...

X-Press Menu - Gain • Adjusts the strength of the displayed RADAR return. • Works just like Sensitivity on Sonar views. • Adjustable from 0 to 255 • User should adjust Gain for each range as the gain settings are individually saved for each individual range.
Page 59
X-Press Menu - STC • STC – Slow Time Constant • Used to filter out noise in the radar return due to waves. • Adjustable from 0 to 255 • User should adjust STC setting for each RADAR range setting depending on water conditions.
Page 63
X-Press Menu - FTC • FTC – Fast Time Constant • Used to filter out noise in the RADAR return due to rain or snow. • Adjustable from 0 to 8 • FTC is common between all RADAR ranges. • User should adjust FTC depending on weather conditions.
Page 66
X-Press Menu - Range • Can also be adjusted using ZOOM keys. • AS 12RD2KW is adjustable from 0.125nm to 24 nm. • AS 21RD4KW is adjustable from 0.125nm to 36 nm.
