MAINTENANCE
CHANGING OIL IN GEAR REDUCTION
(if equipped)
Change oil in gear reduction after every 100 hours of
operation.

PLUG
[1] To drain oil, loosen 4 gear case cover screws and
drain oil into appropriate receptacle.
[2] After draining, torque 4 screws to 85 in-lbs.
[3] To refill, pour SAE 30 oil into oil fill hole until it runs
out level check hole.
[4] Replace both oil plugs.
Note: Oil filler plug has a vent hole and must be installed
on top of gear case cover.

AIR CLEANER

All engines have an air cleaner cartridge. In addition, some
engines have a pre-cleaner.

REMOVING AND RE-INSTALLING AIR CLEANER
[1] Loosen screws. Remove cover and air cleaner
assembly from base.
[2] Remove air cleaner assembly from inside of cover and
disassemble.
[3] Re-assemble retainer on clean (or new) pre-cleaner
and cartridge (screen side of pre-cleaner toward
cartridge pleats). Install this assembly in cover.
[4] Insert tabs on cover into slots in base. Tighten cover
screws securely.
CLEANING PRE-CLEANER AND CARTRIDGE
CAUTION: Do not use pressurized air or solvents to
clean cartridge. Pressurized air can damage
cartridge; solvents will dissolve cartridge.
Pre-cleaner
To clean pre-cleaner (if equipped), separate it from
cartridge and wash in liquid detergent and water. Squeeze
dry in a clean cloth. Saturate in engine oil. Squeeze in
clean, absorbent cloth to remove all EXCESS oil.
Cartridge
To clean cartridge, gently tap pleated paper side on a flat
surface.

Replacement parts for fuel
system (cap, hoses, tanks,
filters, etc.) must be the same
as original parts, otherwise
fire can occur.
FUEL FILTER
FUEL HOSE CLAMPS
[1] Disconnect spark plug
wire and keep away from
spark plug.
[2] Drain fuel tank or close
fuel shut-off valve before
replacing
fuel
filter.
Otherwise, fuel can leak
out, creating a fire/explo-
sion hazard.
