    Locate these safety decals on your unit. Make sure the decals are legible and that you understand and follow the instructions on them. If a decal cannot be read, a new one can be ordered from your ECHO dealer. See PARTS ORDER- ING instructions for specific information.

    / low idle extremes are adjusted properly (see Carburetor Adjust- ment page 21). If proper adjustment cannot be achieved with adjusting nut (B), consult with your Echo Dealer for correct adjustment procedure. Tighten nut (B).     HAFT EDGE LIPPER PERATOR ANUAL ADJUSTING CUTTING ANGLE WARNING DANGER Never adjust cutting assembly with engine running. WARNING DANGER Hedge clipper blades are sharp. Always wear gloves when adjusting cutting assembly. WARNING DANGER DO NOT stand hedge clipper on end when adjusting cutting angle, otherwise serious injury may result Place unit on a flat clear area.

    ROTATE CUTTER ASSEMBLY Always use the unit from the right-hand side of your body – NEVER from the left side. Rotate cutter assembly 180 degrees on driveshaft in order to avoid cutting directly above your head, and to avoid contact with hot muffler.

    The attachment should not move at idle, otherwise serious personal injury may result. NOTE If attachment moves, readjust carburetor according to “Carburetor Adjustment” instructions in this manual or see your ECHO Dealer.     DANGER If engine does not stop when stop switch is moved to STOP position, close choke - COLD START position - to stall engine. Have your ECHO dealer repair stop switch before using shaft hedge clipper again. IMPORTANT Always install blade cover, and return cutting assembly to folded/ locked position for travel/storage.

    ECHO Service Dealer for maintenance. To help you decide whether you want to DO-IT-YOURSELF or have the ECHO Dealer do it, each maintenance task has been graded. If the task is not listed, see your ECHO Dealer for repairs. SKILL LEVEL Level 1 = Easy to do.

    AIR FILTER Level 1. Tools required: 25 or 50 mm (1 or 2 in.) cleaning brush Parts required: 90030 REPOWER Air & Fuel Filter Kit Close choke (Cold Start Position [ ]). This prevents dirt from entering the carburetor throat when the air filter is removed. Brush accumulated dirt from the air filter area.

    HAFT EDGE LIPPER PERATOR ANUAL SPARK PLUG Level 2. Tools Required: T-Wrench, feeler gauge, soft metal brush Parts Required: REPOWER Tune-Up Kit P/N 90075 IMPORTANT Use only NGK BPM-8Y spark plug (BPMR-8Y in Canada) otherwise severe engine damage may occur. Remove spark plug and check for fouling, worn and rounded center electrode.

    Remove spark plug lead. Remove two (2) muffler cover screws and muffler cover (A). Remove screw and top guard (B). Remove cylinder cover (C). IMPORTANT DO NOT use a metal scraper to remove dirt from the cylinder fins. Use brush to remove dirt from the cylinder fins. Remove grass and leaves from the grid between the recoil starter and fuel tank.

    The cylinder exhaust port must be inspected and cleaned of excess carbon every 3 months or 90 hours of operation in order to maintain this engine within the emissions durability period.     Wipe excess oil from the blade before putting the unit back in service. Gear Housing Assembly Level 2 Tools required: Grease gun, rag Parts required: ECHO LUBE 14 oz. cartridge P/N 91015 or ® Lithium Based Grease Clean dirt from grease fittings (A).
  • Page 23 NOTE Hedge Clipper drive shaft should be greased every 25 hours of operation. Tools required: 4 mm hex wrench, 8mm open end wrench, clean rag, small brush. Parts required: ECHO LUBE 14 oz. cartridge P/N 91015 or ® Lithium-based Grease.

    Parts required: None IMPORTANT Blades should only be removed and reinstalled by an Authorized ECHO Servicing Dealer, otherwise premature wear or internal damage may occur. Tighten blade bolts until snug, then loosen blade bolts 1/2 turn. Hold blade bolts from turning using 10 mm wrench, and tighten blade lock nuts with other 10 mm wrench.

    TORAGE WARNING DANGER During operation the muffler or catalytic muffler and surrounding cover become hot. Always keep exhaust area clear of flammable debris during transportation or when storing, otherwise serious property damage or personal injury may result. IMPORTANT Always store and transport shaft hedge clippers in a stable, horizontal position. Always install blade cover, and return cutting assembly to folded/locked position for travel/storage.
