Problem
Excessive lubricant consumption and/
or excessive lubricant in hose.
Air blowing from inlet filter.
Insufficient pressure at tool or
accessory.
Tank loses pressure rapidly when
compressor shuts off.
Moisture in discharge air.
Pressure in tank exceeds 135 PSI.
Crankcase lubricant is milky.
Compressor runs backwards.
Belt roll over.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Possible Cause
Crankcase overfilled with lubricant.
Lubricant leaks.
Worn piston rings.
Wrong lubricant viscosity.
Compressor on unlevel surface.
Scored cylinder.
Plugged crankcase breather.
Damaged inlet (reed) valve.
Leaks or restrictions.
Restricted air intake (filter plugged).
Slipping belt.
Hose or hose connectors too small.
Compressor incorrectly sized.
Regulator not turned up to high enough
pressure / faulty regulator.
Leaking valves in compressor.
Loose connection or leak (pipe, tank
drain valve, tubing, fitting or hose).
Faulty check valve.
Condensation in tank, caused by
high level of atmospheric humidity or
compressor is not run long enough.
Defective pilot valve.
Incorrectly adjusted pilot valve.
Water in lubricant due to humidity or
condensation.
Reversed wiring polarity.
Misaligned belts.
Loose belt.

Solution
Drain lubricant. Refill to proper
level with proper lubricant (refer to
LUBRICATION).
Tighten bolts on compressor to proper
torque or replace gaskets.
Take compressor to Service Center.
Drain lubricant & refill with proper
lubricant (refer to LUBRICATION).
Level compressor.
Take compressor to Service Center.
Clean or replace crankcase breather.
Take compressor to Service Center.
Check for leaks or restrictions in hose
or piping. Repair.
Replace air filter.
Tighten belt (refer to BELT ALIGNMENT
& ADJUSTMENT).
Replace with larger hose or
connectors.
Either use a smaller tool or a larger
compressor.
Turn the regulator to the proper setting
/ replace faulty regulator.
Take compressor to Service Center.
Turn unit off, unplug it, & tighten or
replace fittings or components.
Replace faulty check valve.
Drain tank after every use. Drain tank
more frequently in humid weather &
use an air line filter.
Replace defective pilot valve.
Readjust pilot valve (see PILOT VALVE
ADJUSTMENT)
Change lubricant. Move compressor to
less humid atmosphere.
Contact qualified electrician.
Align belts (Refer to BELT ALIGNMENT &
ADJUSTMENT).
Tighten belts (Refer to BELT ALIGNMENT
& ADJUSTMENT).
