  • Page 2 Read Before You Use 1. Power off the NR-1604 immediately if it starts smoking or smells unusual. Power off the camera device immediately if the NR-1406 is exposed to rain or liquid. Do not set the camera device near any heat sources.

  • Page 7 3. Hardware installation 1. Start by removing the screws on the side of the NR-1604. 2. Push the top housing forward 3. Lift it up.
  • Page 8 4. Remove the hard drive cover plate. 5. Pull out the hard drive tray holder. 6. Place the hard drive on the tray. Secure it by pushing it into place.
  • Page 9 7. Connect the SATA cable to the hard drive. 8. Put the hard drive tray cover plate back. 9. Place the top housing back and secure it with the bottom housing with the screws.

System Requirements The following are minimum system requirements for a system to operate the NR-1604: Operating System Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Professional (32 bit) Windows Server 2003 (32 bit) Browser Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or above Minimum Intel Pentium 4 2.4 GHz or higher (Dual Core is recommended)
  • Page 11 NR-1604 using its default IP Using Setup Wizard Utility If the NR-1604 is added to a corporate network or a local area network where a DHCP server is already presented, install the “Smart Device Search” utility onto a computer that is connected to the network.
  • Page 12 T o begin, launch the “Setup Wizard” utility from the CD and proceed with the installation. Once the installation is completed, check the “Launch the Search AP” option and click “Finish”.
  • Page 13 The utility will located the NR-1604 and display its IP address. Double-click to access the NR-1604. The NR-1604 web administration page will automatically open in the default web browser. The NR-1604 IP address can be changed by clicking on the button highlighted below.
  • Page 14 User will be prompted to enter the NR-1604 login information before being allowed to change the device’s IP address. To search again for the NR-1604, click on the button highlighted below. To access the NR-1604’s web administration page, double-click on any of the search results.
  • Page 15 When accessing the NR-1604’s web administration page, user will be prompted for the NR-1604 username and password. For first time use, the default username and password are admin/admin. When the correct username and password have been entered, click “OK” to continue.

  • Page 17 Once the PC is connected to the NR-1604, open a web browser and enter the IP address: 192.168.101.50. The computer will automatically connect to the NR-1604. User will be prompted to enter the NR-1604’s username and password. default username and password are admin/admin. Click “OK” to continue.
  • Page 18 6. Set up Password The default login username and password are admin/admin. T o change the password of the admin account, go to “Setup” “System Configurations” “User Account”. Click on the “admin” account in the account list and press the “edit” button to change the password.

  • Page 21 3. Click on “Detect” to establish the connection between the NR-1604 and the camera. If the connection is successful, the camera’s detailed information will be displayed as shown below: User can adjust the camera’s video format, frame rate, resolution and live video quality.
  • Page 22 The “Recording Configurations” allows users to control how and when video is recorded. Configuring the recording schedule allows for users to gain the full benefits of the NR-1604 because they will be able to record video only when it is necessary and at the appropriate frame rate to utilize memory space.
  • Page 23 The Recording Buffer allows users to set the pre-alarm and post-alarm buffer. These buffers will determine how much video will be recorded before and after an alarm has been triggered. The Pre-Alarm Buffer range is from 0 to 3 seconds and the Post-Alarm Buffer range is from 5 to 30 seconds.
  • Page 24 9. Schedule Recording Setting Users can use Schedule Recording Settings to define the time range of the scheduled recording for all channels. To configure a schedule recording 1. Select a camera from the “Camera” drop-down menu. 2. Use the Schedule Table to specify times for scheduled recordings. Each cell represents fifteen minutes of time.
  • Page 25 3. Instead of the Schedule Table, users can use the Quick Configuration to define the recording time range. Check the days to record and specify the duration by choosing either “All Day” or enter a start and end time for a specific recording duration. 4.
  • Page 26 The UPS allows the NR-1604 to receive an uninterrupted power supply in the event of a power failure. Through the UPS, the NR-1604 is able to detect if there is a power failure and automatically shut itself down after a period of time, ensuring that the user does not experience an abrupt interruption in their video recording.
