Parfocal Adjustment for the Objectives

2.3
Usually, the focal length for a dry type objective is different
from that of a liquid immersion type objective. If you
change objectives between these types with no correction,
the image will go out of focus. In this case, adjust the
parfocal correction knobs on the sides of the sliding
nosepiece.
To perform the parfocal correction adjustment, move the
objective vertical movement lever to the left or the right.
The parfocal correction knob on the left side is used for the
near side objective, and the parfocal correction knob on
the right side is used for the far side objective.
Turn the knob in a clockwise direction to raise the
objective (to raise the focal position).

Dipping Function for a Water Immersion Type Objective

2.4
Push the objective vertical movement lever on the
nosepiece farther than the normal position at the left or the
right. The objective moves down 1 mm. When the lever is
released, the lever and the objective come back to their
original positions.
CAUTION:
To prevent damage to the specimen and the
objective, be careful not to perform the dipping
function accidentally.

Centering the Objective

2.5
When you wish to decrease the difference between the
two center positions of the near side objective and the far
side objective, center the objectives.
Rotate the three M3 hexagonal socket head set-screws.
Adjust the center positions of the near side objective and
the far side objective so that they come together. To adjust
the center positions more accurately, use an eyepiece with
crosshairs.
When you wish to perform a microscopy of a small
specimen such as a patch clamp method, you should
center the objectives beforehand.
